Top Makeup Tools: RT Miracle Complexion Sponge

Whilst opening my latest purchase from Zoeva (no worries, a haul post is coming tomorrow), I realized I spend a lot of time talking about makeup on this blog but hadn’t yet written a review about the best tools for applying these products. This will be remedied with the new Top Makeup Tools series, in which I will discuss my favorite brushes, sponges, and accessories for the best results.

Starting it off is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge or as a friend once called it: that weird orange egg-thing. Strange as it may look, I cannot live without this genius little sponge. Like all Real Technique products, it is very reasonably priced at $6/£6. It distributes and blends my liquid foundation beautifully. I prefer to apply foundation with my fingers first and then bounce the sponge over my skin to really blend it in. The little tip is great for those tricky corners of your eyes and nose and is great for blending concealer as well. Do hold the sponge under running water first and allow to expend to about double its original size. Squeeze out the excess moisture, I prefer to do a final squeeze inside a towel so the outside is dry. This way, the sponge is even lighter and blends even better with the added bonus of not slurping up all your product. It is great for everyday use and travel, but – like any makeup tool – it does need to be cleaned regularly.

Oh I would be very interested in that as well! I never bought a beauty blender, cause these work so well and are much cheaper and easier to get here.

Definitely! Well, it isn’t a big haul but it sure made me happy. Their packaging is so luxurious for a relatively cheap brand 😀

It is a lot more expensive though and really difficult to get here. Would be great to read a comparison of the two.
