Make-up for me is both functional and fun. Looking flawless and professional can get me through an important presentation at work and there is nothing like a bright lippy to cheer up a rainy day. Using the right tools makes it so much easier to apply your make-up and improves the way it looks. I have picked my seven favorite tools!
Zoeva 106/Powder Brush
German brand Zoeva produces fabulous brushes and this is one of my favorites. A big fluffy powder brush that picks up just the right amount of powder and distributes it lightly over your face. Read my full review of this firm favorite here.
Zoeva 128/Cream Cheek
This slanted blush brush is perfect for applying powder blush. It creates a lovely shape and applies just the right amount of color to your cheeks. These high quality brushes have a budget price tag and stay perfect after washing.
Real Techniques duo-fiber contour brush
This is the perfect brush for a light application of bronzer or contour powder. The duo-fiber bristles give a very natural finish. These brushes wash well, without shedding hairs or losing their shape.
Real Techniques duo-fiber eye brush
This duo-fiber brush is great for blending different eye shadow colors together. It creates a flawless transition between different shades.
Hema Eye Shadow Brush
I use this unnamed Hema brush to apply eyeshadow to the eyelid. Be very careful which brush you pick up at Hema though: most are scratchy and awful. The series with the white handles, on the other hand, is very soft and excellent quality.
Makeup Revolution London E104
This slanted brush is perfect for applying eyeliner. I tend to use this to apply a little dusting of eye shadow over my liner to make sure it stays put. Read more about the entire set of Makeup Revolution Eye Brushes here.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
One of my favorite make-up tools. This orange egg is perfect to create a flawless base. I prefer to apply liquid foundation and concealer with my fingertips and let it settle a little. I will then bounce this egg across my face to blend everything together perfectly. Truly makes all the difference!
These were my favorite tools that make all the difference for my look. Do you have any favorite brushes? Let me know!
Real Techniques duo-fiber contour brush
Real Techniques duo-fiber eye brush
Hema Eye Shadow Brush
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Heb jij favoriete kwasten? Laat het me weten!

My favourite Real Techniques brush is the Expert face brush 🙂 love how it blends my foundation into my skin making look flawless. But I also am loving your Zoeva brushes, I’ve read plenty of reviews about these and seem quite awesome! I wouldn’t mind having a few of my own but they’re on my list of things to buy in a future makeup haul! 😉

I happen to have the expert brush, but for some reason I am just not able to apply foundation with brushes in the way I would want to…always looks a little weird.
Zoeva brushes are really great, I definitely recommend them.

Thank you for the recommendation, Anne! I will need to look out for these online! I say that the expert brush is my favourite because that’s the only brush I own for foundation. I have a blending sponge but don’t use it often as I feel it takes too long to apply foundation.

I am just really clumsy with foundation and brushes, can’t seem to get it right. I apply with my fingers and than blend with the sponge for a perfect finish.

Does it take long to blend with the sponge for you?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Not really: I apply foundation and concealer with my fingers, let is settle for a minute or two while I do something else and then bounce the sponge around my entire face: takes maybe a minute or two?!
I do wet the sponge and then squeeze out the excess moisture before using it.

I might try it your way and see how I go 🙂 I would love to see how the sponge I have works…it’s just sitting there at the moment haha.

Love the Real Techniques brushes! Though I just bought myself a set of the Zoeva ones, and I can’t wait to try them out, I’ve heard such great things about them! =D

Real Techniques are really nice, but Zoeva is a little more luxurious and softer! Let me know what you think, but I am pretty sure you will love them 🙂

I agree, Zoeva brushes are amazing 🙂 I love the powder brush! Been wanting to try out the RT complexion sponge for some time though – good to hear it makes a difference 🙂

I love my orange egg! Some people use if for application but it just wastes so much foundation that way. I really think it is perfect for blending though!

Yes sponges really do waste a lot of product! I agree with just using it for blending. It gives a nice finish 🙂

Great post Anne. There is nothing worse than struggling to apply beautiful makeup with a rubbish brush! Great choices, I prefer synthetic brushes.xx

Exactly! And it never truly looks good either. I think good synthetic brushes wash very well, an absolute bonus. xxx Anne

They do wash well, lots of good reasons to but synthetic brushes. I’m not vegan but it’s good to know that animal hair isn’t being used also.xx
