Budget Beauty Look

Looking back at my most recent posts, I have noticed a lot of high end beauty products popping up on the blog. Some of those products were typical cases of “blogger made me buy it” (Charlotte Tilbury’s Amazing Grace Lipstick is a case in point), but it is also because I made a lot of lovely purchases during my trip to San Francisco earlier this year.

budget look products

Despite this overload of high end reviews on my blog, I think budget make-up can be just as good as high end products. There really isn’t any need to break the bank to look good: you just need to find the products that work for you regardless of price. With that in mind, I set out to create a make-up look using only budget products…

only to hit a small snag. I quickly realized I had decent budget products for everything, except powder. I have never been able to find a decent affordable setting powder that doesn’t go cakey on me. So, I compromised and used my Mac Mineralize Skinfinish. Not exactly budget, but not ridiculously expensive either. The rest of the products are all available on the high street for reasonable prices.

budget look products

You look beautiful, and I agree. There are tons of excellent budget beauty buys. My issues are 1) I like the consistency of quality in high-end vs budget buys, and 2) I’m a sucker for high-end packaging. I totally recognize that my loyalty to high-end is a bug-a-boo with me, and not with my true opinion of the quality of many budget buys. Does that make sense?

Oh you know I am a fellow Chanel addict so agree with you. I do love a good budget buy, but I agree that the high end packaging cannot be beaten and I also find high end items tend to last longer!

Agreed. But, I really think the budge mascaras win the game over the high-end ones. Isn’t that weird?

Absolutely. I adore chanel mascara because the packaging is lovely, but prefer max factor or loreal!

Mooi, het hoeft inderdaad niet duur te zijn. Al vind ik wel vaak dat je het verschil merk gedurende de dag.

Zeker waar, foundation blijft toch net even minder lang mooi.

Beautiful look, it’s good to see a more affordable makeup look. I mix and match my products, if you find something that works for you that’s less expensive there’s no sense in paying more. You know me I love using what Ive already got in my kit to create similar looks to those you see the celebrities wearing etc. Have a lovely weekend xx

Thanks Zoe! I usually mix and match as well, and except for the powder it was actually surprisingly easy to go all budget. I could just as easy go all high end of course πŸ˜‰
I love your recreated look posts, always so fun to read πŸ™‚
Hope you have a great weekend as well πŸ˜€

I know what you mean, I do tend to lean more towards the high end but you’re right there are some lovely drug store brands out there too. There are some things like your powder though that are worth spending more on, especially if there is no budget alternative. Thank you, I’ve always got so many ideas it just having time to blog about them. πŸ˜„ Thank you, I’ve just been to the gym so feeling really good. Xx zoebeautyblog.com

I agree that you usually get what you pay for: high end seems to be better at lasting longer πŸ™‚ And I find powder is soo much better!
Oh yes, the gym high is always great πŸ˜€

The Maybelline colour tattoos are probably my favourite drugstore eyeshadow, they are so pigmented and have such a nice creamy formula! Loving the look Anne πŸ™‚

Oh really, that’s too bad! I remember I had to choose between calico and a light shade that was a little more yellow. Can’t recall what it was called, but it would be ideal for you!

You look so pretty! I love this look! I use mostly budget/drugstore makeup myself and it’s always nice to see those products for us girls that are on a budget lol. Though I do like to splurge on a high-end product every now and then of course. πŸ™‚ Xo

      Oh thanks so much!
I have a weird relation with make-up: I don’t mind splurging on a lovely high end product but I can also get really excited by an eyeliner for a dollar πŸ™‚

Very pretty make up look πŸ™‚ I agree, drugstore can be just as good as high end for most make up items. It’s just finding what works best for your skin. If you want to try out v good cheap powders I highly recommend the Maybelline Fit Me & Rimmel Stay Matte. They’re fantastic!

Oh thanks for the recommendations! The thing about powder is, it take forever to finish wouldn’t you agree? I have the Chanel loose powder, been using it for over 6 months and it still looks exactly the same πŸ˜‰
Still, will certainly try these out!

Yes they do take quite long & I use quite a lot of powder lol. As they’re v cheap it’s a good excuse to buy them anyway to try out more! πŸ˜‰

Ik heb ook al goede dingen gehoord over de nieuwe Infallible van l’OrΓ©al, denk dat die ook lichtjes dekt!

It does stay on well, but it is very natural looking (and I am pretty fair, so not sure what it does on other skintones).
