An early dinner date, an exciting concert or maybe just an evening work engagement: sometimes you really need you make-up look to transition from day to night in mere minutes. Today, I am going to show you a step by step process for just those situations!
Lets start with step 1: a flawless base! You will need a long-lasting foundation for your make-up that keeps you looking lovely throughout the day. I have decided to use a setting spray in the final steps of this look, which means I do not use a facial primer here. However, if you prefer a primer start with that.
I chose Nars Sheer Glow, a great long lasting foundation with a medium finish. I prefer to apply this and the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer with my finger tips. The warmth of my fingers makes these products melt with my skin better. I then bounce my Real Techniques Miracle Sponge lightly over my face to blend everything together nicely. Pop on a bit of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion to prepare your lids.
Moving on to step 2. I applied a neutral eye shadow from the Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes palettes all over my eyes. I use the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural over my T-zone and underneath my eyes to set my concealer. I then applied a little bit of the Bourjois Cream Blush in 02 Healthy Glow using my fingertips.
Time to add the last finishing touches: a little bit of Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara on my lashes and the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk all over my lips.
And here we are: a very neutral look perfectly suited for work. I just used a little bit of volume powder in my hair to add some body and texture. I love this stuff, because just running your hands through your hair throughtout the day will recreate the volume easily.
So, now you are moving on to your night time event and have just a couple of minutes to refresh and add some more make-up. I have tried to reduce the products necessary as much as possible, because you don’t want to have to drag an entire make-up bag along all day.
Spritz on a fresh coat of perfume using the Flo Refillable Fragrance Atomizer*. Most of your base should still look great, but use a little concealer were necessary.
Add a light dusting of powder and make sure to powder your lips as well. This will make your lipstick last a little longer. Apply a coat of lipstick, blot using tissue paper, and apply a second coat for the best results.
The key to keeping your bag as light as possible is bringing versatile products: I will use the Sleek Faceform Palette for my cheeks and eyes. Applying a fresh layer of the sparkle blush will really transform your look from day to night. Use the darker brown all over your eyelids to add some definition and use the highlighter on your brow bone and in the corners of your eyes. As a final touch, add a fresh layer of mascara.
And there you go: a transformation from day to night in a couple of easy steps. Do you have any favorite products you bring along for just these occasions?
