Nothing like the original: Chanel No5 Eau Premiere

Chanel Perfume No5 Eau Premier

Ready for a controversial statement? I dislike Chanel No 5. I know this their signature fragrance, everyone else seems to love it, and I am normally quite the Chanel addict: but despite all of that I just cannot get myself to like it. So when I received a sample of the Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere, I figured I would try it once and than hand it off to a friend…but I surprised myself by loving it.

Chanel Perfume No5 Eau Premier

I am horrible at describing perfumes, which is why you will not see them featured often on this blog (that and the fact I am very very picky when it comes to scents).Β The main notes are still the same as the original No 5:Β rose, jasmine, neroli and ylang-ylang. I cannot pick them out individually, but it is just a lovely floral scent. A little hint of citrus makes this lighter and easier to wear then the original.

Chanel Perfume No5 Eau Premiere

I find the Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere just so much fresher and lighter than the original No 5 and for some reason this allows the floral notes to come to the foreground more. Make no mistake, this perfume has not lost its adult edge: this is not some super sweet girly fragrance. I can just imagine a sophisticated lady like Coco Chanel herself wearing this scent. Have you tried this yet or are you a fan of the original No 5?

I wish that like you, people would trust their instincts when it comes to fragrance. Eau Premiere is fresher and “greener”. I am a Chanel fan and have used quite a number of fragrances and No. 5, the original, in almost every form for years. I’m sure body chemistry has something to do with the way the fragrance sits on a person. I do not like to respray so the original one is good as is. Thanks for sharing.

Fragrance is so personal: not just taste but like you said also body chemistry. Somehow on me, citrus really gets a boost so for me it is a fine line between nice and fresh or smelling like a lemon πŸ˜‰

Thank you for this. And I’m the opposite of you, citrus hates my body, for some reason. This was a great post, and I’m glad you found something that works for you. Warm wishes. xoxo
