Victory over unruly brows with Nars Brow Gel

Women seem to have a rather strange relationship with eyebrows: we pluck them only to fill them in with pencils, powders or gels or sometimes even tattoo them on our face (I do not know who came up with that, but they should be convicted of treason and locked away). Our attention to brows is not very surprising, given how important they are in defining and shaping your face and look.

As someone who is blessed (or cursed, depending on your perspective or the fashion of the moment) with dark and well defined brows, I generally ignore them. I just give them a little extra shape by removing some additional hairs but do not have any need for brow pencils or powders. My only issue? They don’t always stay in shape, especially not while cycling to work in windy Holland.

And that is where the Nars Brow Gel comes in. A makeup artist at Nars used this on me while demonstrating my beloved Nars Sheer Glow and I loved it. I have it in Athens, a light beige meant for blonds, but what I love about this is the hold, not the color. Granted, the color does even out any sparse areas of the brow, but this is almost undetectable as you can see in the image below.

The hold, however, is great! Once set, the gel will hold your brows in place without that irritating crunchy or crispy feeling. A big downside is the packaging: the little wand gives you way to much product in one go! I put a little of the brow gel on an old clean mascara wand and use that to shape my brows. You have a minute or so to perfect the shape before it sets and holds all day.

Another awesome post – this looks very natural indeed Anne, again Nars is a winner. Think I need some Nars in my life – the concealer & now the brow gel… you’re slowly bankrupting me! lol Have a great week lovely lady XXX

I do apologize to your bank account 😉
This brow gel is nice, but if you must choose Nars, try the concealer or foundation. Have heard lovely stuff about their famous blush as well but haven’t tried it yet.

I love a good eyebrow gel! I use the Benefit Gimme Brow and I love it, never tried the Nars one though but it looks fab!

Great job, I see so many people with over done brows! Yours look lovely. I must admit other than plucking my eyebrows I don’t really add anything to them in terms of eyebrow pencils and gel. I did however try aCharlotte Tilburys ‘Brow Lift’ pencil recently and I really liked the results. I think the trick is to choose something close to your natural colour like you have or slightly lighter and not to go too OTT.xx 😀

Oh I hate those ssuper overdone brows…they tend to look a little fake.
Hmm I have been thinking about adding a pencil, so I will definitely have a look at CT. I have great faith in all of her products 🙂

Yeah I was impressed. I have a wonky sticky out bit on one of my eyebrows and I usually just embrace it but some gel you recommend might tame it a bit. The Bobbi Brown one was pretty good too, I tried it when I popped to the BB counter the other week to get somewhere else.xx

I know what you mean: I am usually fine with how they are naturally but sometimes you need that little bit of extra refinement 🙂
Will check out the BB one 🙂
