Proper Protection: Kiehl’s Daily UV Defense SPF50

Two weeks ago, I did a little post my favorite facial sunscreens. Don’t worry, I am not going to nag you again about the importance of wearing proper sunscreen on your face (just do it!), but I did promise you a full review of my new Kiehl’s Daily UV Defense cream.

Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 facial sunscreen

The Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 to use the full and overly long name is a light oil-free formula with UVA and UVB protection. This product sets you back about €37/£31 but it does contain 60 ml. The white tube is simple and convenient for travel.

This is a light product that settles in smoothly and quickly without a white cast. It gives a little sheen to your skin, but nothing overly oily so you could use just this product without any additional make-up. This does work very well underneath every foundation I have tried it with – and I do own quite a few. It doesn’t ball up into those weird and awful grey fluffy things: I honestly don’t know any other way to describe them but I am sure you know what I mean.

The Ultra Light Daily UV Defense doesn’t have a any added fragrance apart from that typical sunscreen smell, so is perfectly suitable for sensitive skins. I sandwich this product between my moisturiser and my foundation and that should work well for anyone with normal to dry skin. If your skin is oily, you can skip the moisturiser and just use this as it does have some hydrating properties.

Overall, this is a great product for those of you who feel protecting your skin from the sun in a daily basis is important, but expect your sunscreen to work underneath make-up. This is a no-fuss product that does what it says on the tin (or tube in this case). Excellent work Kiehl’s!

Nice review! I wore my Missha sunscreen for the first time today and really liked it (light consistency, no white cast, feels like a normal moisturiser).. might review it, too 🙂 Btw feel free to do the spring tag I posted!

It lives up to the name 🙂 So far, it has worked well with every foundation/base I have tried it with, so def. a winner.

This one sounds good! I don’t really like the feeling of “normal” suncreen under my makeup. It’s always so greasy… I’m going to try this one 😉

Oh that just feel awful right?! And it usually makes my foundation peel off or settle weirdly as well. This is so much better 🙂

This sounds like a great sunscreen! I also really like that it has a high SPF as well! I have been thinking a lot about sunscreen lately actually and I wish there was one that could be used for the face and body but doesn’t have that ucky sunscreen smell. Great review though! 🙂 xxx

This is lovely and the sunscreen smell isn’t as pronounced but it is definitely there.
I have never found a proper sunscreen for face and body without the scent…really wish they would start using nice fragrance. Estee Lauder does have a lovely facial spf50 that smelss of cucumber, but it is way to expensive to use on your body.

Oh that is good to hear: my other option was Shiseido but that wasn’t in stock so I went with Kiehls!!
      It is really nice 🙂
Hope you have a lovely day as well 😀
