Beauty Products I Dislike

It is so easy to write a post on products you like or love, but I don’t often write about products that were a bit of a bust. To keep things balanced, I decided to combine three products I dislike in this post and explain why they didn’t work for me.

products I dislike

Superdrug Vitamin E Moisture Mask

This is a hydrating face mask with Grapeseed oil and vitamin E meant to nourish normal to dry skin. The Superdrug mask is very affordable:Β Β£2.60 and often further reduced on sale.

I picked this up after reading some good reviews, but should have remembered that Vitamin E doesn’t do well on my skin. My skin became red and itchy:Β the same issues I have previously had with other vitamin E products. I will be passing this on to a friend, but this might still work for you if your skin has no sensitivity to vitamin E.

products I dislike

Haut-Segala Neroli Water

This is a soothing Neroli flower water I was planning to use as a toner. I love a spritz of floral water after my cleanser and figured this might be a good alternative to my beloved Lush Toner.

It works just fine, but the scent is just so overpowering – and not in a good way. It just smells a little off to me. I tried mixing it with water to tone it down a little, but it still isn’t doing it for me. I might try to get some rosewater and mix it with that to see what happens, but for now it is lingering in the back of my cabinet.

products I dislike

Sleek Luminous Pressed Powder

This was a spur of the moment purchase early on in my make-up career a couple of years back. I thought it would make a lovely all over face powder, but this stuff is just too shimmery. It also looks very powdery and dry on my skin, so I don’t even like it as a highlighter. The only plus is the great packaging.

These three products just missed the mark for me. Have you tried any of these or do you have a disappointing product on the shelf somewhere? Do tell!

products I dislike

Superdrug Vitamin E Moisture Mask

products I dislike

Haut-Segala Neroli Water

products I dislike

Sleek Luminous Pressed Powder

Vertel!

Always a couple of ‘bad’ ones aren’t there?! Just hate throwing away stuff 😦 At least they weren’t all pricey!

Ah yes, disappointing products are bound to come around now and then, especially for us beauty junkies πŸ™‚ My biggest one is probably Benefit They’re Real mascara. Everyone on earth seems to love this mascara and I HATE it with a fiery passion. It just does not work for me at all and I don’t understand how everyone else is obsessed with it! (Rant over.)

Very true, we do try a little more than our fair share of products πŸ™‚
So funny when everyone else seems to love something and you hate it! Does happen occasionally, but you can always rant about it πŸ˜€

Thanks! Very true, products you love are easier to rave on about.
And thanks for the nomination: I am very behind on all of this but I will certainly have a look at your post πŸ™‚

It’s always a bummer when certain products don’t work out. I have to be careful with products that are heavy on fragrance because I will break out with a rash and hives. 😦 No fun at all! xxx

That just sounds awful. I never quite understand why producers feel the need to add loads of fragrance to a product.

Sorry! Do try it though, it might be fine for you. I immediately noticed an uncomfy feel, so you can just wipe it off if you think it isn’t going well.

Have you ever tried the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powders? They look lovely and luminous on the skin and no shimmer.
I hear what you mean about fragrances being too overpowering – I’m currently using a spray toner (Reviva Labs Lindenflower Facial Spray) for hydration and it’s a bit too much.

Oh I love that! My favorite mac powder by far!
I know it is slightly unfair of me to complain about the fragrances of floral waters, as they are mostly natural but still πŸ˜‰

Unfortunately 😦 Although I buy less and less of those, since beauty blogging reviews have really helped weed out the awful ones

I have the two other super drug face masks and the pink one gave me a rash and made me look like I was sun burnt afterwards :/ I won’t be using them again xx
