First Impressions: Benefit and Murad Primers

Primer is one of those underrated beauty products that really help you look your best. A good primer will make your base look even more flawless and extend the wear of your makeup. Today, I want to give you my first impressions of the Benefit the Porefessional and the Murad Skin Perfecting Primer based on luxury samples I have used over the last few weeks.

First Impression Primer Benefit and Murad

Benefit the Porefessional

This pro balm is meant to blur your pores and smooth out fine lines. It has a slight tint to it, but this isn’t noticeable after application. The texture is very silky and smooth (very silicony) but oil free.

First Impression Primer Benefit and Murad

I do not have any issues with my pores, so I find it difficult to judge the effect. It does smooth out fine lines and makes your foundation glide on easier and last longer. I have to say I like the effect, but I don’t love this primer enough to purchase the full size.

Murad Skin Perfecting Primer

The Murad Skin Perfecting Primer is meant to create a longer lasting foundation with a Dewy Finish. This product is also tinted, but the color is relatively light and the effect minor so anyone with a light to medium skintone should be fine. This product feels more like a normal cream, certainly seems to have less silicone than the Benefit Porefessional.

First Impression Primer Benefit and Murad

I find this does make my base last longer, but I have not noticed the dewy finish it promises. In fact, it seems to make my bases more matte. Again, I like this primer but I probably wouldn’t repurchase it.

These two primers are both alright, but neither has made me fall in love. I still prefer to have a primer with a proper SPF. On special occasions, I will use a setting spray to ensure I look perfect all day.

Do you have any favorite primers? Let me know: looking for the next one!

First Impression Primer Benefit and Murad

Benefit the Porefessional

First Impression Primer Benefit and Murad

Murad Skin Perfecting Primer

First Impression Primer Benefit and Murad

First Impression Primer Benefit and Murad

Great review!I’ve heard a lot about Benefit’s Porefessional one – a lot of good things so this does give me a more rounded idea of it. The one’s i’m using are the one’s from Elf at the moment – find them quite good (very silicone and oily to the touch but dry very fast and leave a super matte, smooth feel to the skin) but looking forward to trying some others once they finish.

Thanks πŸ™‚ I think the Benefit one works amazing for some people, but you should definitely try to get a tester before you purchase it.
The Elf one you describe also sounds very nice πŸ˜€

I’ve heard great things about the Smashbox photo finish primer, I might have to try that one! Sorry you were disappointed with these two 😦

my all time fav primer is the Hourglass one which is btw on its last leg! I wasn’t impressed with the Benefit one as I thought it was a bit too slippery on my skin!
    enjoy it lovely!

Heard so much about that one! I think that will be my next high end primer. i still have a max factor drugstore one that I actually prefer over the benefit one. Totally agree with you that the texture is a little off.

Oh nice! thanks for the recommendation, I will be sure to check out your post.
I agree silicones can break you out so easily: that’s why I don’t use the silicone versions every day so my skin can manage.

I feel the same way about PoreFessional – my pores aren’t really a concern so it’s hard to tell. My favorite primer is probably Laura Mercier’s Radiance Primer. It’s fantastic!

You will love it! Though now that it’s summer, I’m using the LM SPF primer at the moment, which is also really good.

I’ve heard a lot about the Porefessional and it seems it’s a very hit and miss product; some people swear by it but others don’t like it. Considering it’s price, I kind of feel like it should be a product that is universally loved. Brilliant review, Anne! πŸ™‚

It is a bit pricy and I like it but I can certainly be without it. Definitely one that you need to test before purchase πŸ™‚

Probably I should get a sample size first, you know those offers that benefit has. That way I can make sure I like it or not before splurging on a full size.

I really do love the Benefit primer but I just don’t love it’s price! Therefore I bought a really close dupe of it which is the NYX Pore Filler and I have really been loving that one. πŸ™‚ xxx
