Missing the mark: Glamglow Youthmud

Glamglow is a brand that has made quite a name for itself with mud masks, so I was very excited to find a miniature in my Radiant Skin Beauty Box.

 GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment

This is the Youthmud Tinglexfoliant Treatment meant to give you radiant and glowing skin. Simply apply a decent layer of the greenish mud, leave for ten minutes, and remove with water in circular motions. Sounds easy right?!

Two minutes in, my face felt super itchy. Obviously, the product name implies there will be a bit of tingling, but when my skin also started to feel hot I had had enough. I washed it off to find my skin red, tight, and irritated. Nothing radiant about it, I assure you. I tried again two weeks later, but the result was the same and the reaction started even quicker.

This clearly isn’t the mask for me. I was wondering if any of you have had this response to this or another Glamglow mask? I was pretty disappointed by this and it is really putting me off trying any of their other products.

Glamglow is een merk bekend is geworden vanwege de geweldige modder maskers, dus ik was erg blij toen ik een mini versie aantrof in mijnย Radiant Skin Beauty Box.

 GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment

 GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment

Dit is duidelijk niet mijn masker. Ik vroeg me af of jullie wel eens een Glamglow masker geprobeerd hebben? Ik was echt teleurgesteld en heb nu niet echt zin meer om nog een masker te proberen.

I’ve read there are a lot of irritants in the Glamglow masks – even with all of the hype, I would not touch this with a 10 ft pole! I’m sorry it irritated your skin. Thanks for posting your honest experience with this – it’s a good counter balance to all the rave reviews online!

I guess it must work for some people. giving all the great reviews online, but my skin was burning! I am sure it is a lovely if you don’t have sensitive skin, but I would recommend testing this before buying.

Funny I see this post TONIGHT of all nights. Last night, I was so excited to try my sample of Glamglow (it was a different one – it was the hydrating non-drying mud mask). Anyhow, I slather it on and a little while later, I feel itchy. I let it go and it sort of passed but the instructions were to leave the mask on all night for deep hydration. I decided after 30 minutes to take it off because I was worried about 1. It getting all over my bed (GROSS!) and 2. It causing a break out.

So I washed it off and I noticed absolutely no difference at all. NOTHING. Maybe some of the others are better but my experience is the product is DOO DOO.

The idea of having to wear it to bed is just wrong…there goes your pillowcase.
I have a feeling this company uses products that some people just react to. I know many people love them, but I am not going to risk it again ๐Ÿ™‚

I know, it was bizarre. I’ve been leaning towards all natural products or near all natural and I’m finding they are better for me. The Glamglow is super popular but I didn’t love the one I tried.

I love natura products and though I am not fully natural most of my skincare is. Just works better for my skin ๐Ÿ™‚
I guess glamglow is fine if you don’t have sensitive skin, but it wasn’t my thing.

This seems to be a love or hate product: some people really like it but others have a strange reaction to it. Do you see any difference in your skin after use?

Thats too bad you didn’t react well to it! I tried one of their masks before and I didn’t really feel it did much for me!

Not for me unfortunately. Sorry to hear that, these are really expensive!

Oh no! That’s extra annoying with how expensive their products are. I don’t know if you live by a Sephora, but you can get free samples there if you ever want to try any of their other products

Oh I wish I lived near a Sephora…nearest one is two countries away in France. Their policies are amazing, you are so lucky!

I’m so sorry you reacted badly to this. I’ve never tried any glam glow product but was really curious about it. Your post has made me a bit more cautious about it so thanks for that.

Glam Glow masks really seem to be love or hate them products: either your skin reacts badly like mine or you love it. Be sure to get a sample somewhere before buying the product ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a similar reaction, it burnt, and not in a “tingle” kind of way, but in a “ow, it burns, get it off!” kind of way. I didn’t bother trying it a second time, I was too scared!

I know, it was not a great feeling! I really wanted to review it and my skin had been acting up so I guess I wanted to try a second time…nope.

I never had any bad reactions, but the product dries so quickly in the pot (see my chit-chat Saturday post ๐Ÿ˜ก !!!) I will never repurchase for this reason (way to expensive anyway for what it is!!!)

Oh really! It is just so expensive, I am not sure I would ever spend that on a mud mask. Do you see any difference in your skin when using it? xxx

Sorry to hear it didn’t work out well for you ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Never tired this, or the brand itself, but I know the feeling. I always get a negative reaction whenever I try a different facial cleanser, so annoying. I’m currently using the Dead Sea Spa Magik mud mask and loving it. Have you tried that range?

    • Anne July 21, 2015 / 9:00 am

Oh that’s horrible! My cleansers usually behave, though I mainly use natural ones which might help!
Haven’t tried the Dead Sea range yet, will be on the lookout for it in my local stores ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the tip.

Ah that’s great – hmm true possibly it is because they are not natural ones. \might give one a go but still waiting for my skin to get completely back to normal. The dead spa range are great! let me know if u try them ๐Ÿ™‚
