Not another waterproof eye makeup remover: Nivea part 1

My quest to find the best waterproof eye makeup remover continues. The one to beat is the Loreal Express Eye Makeup Remover, a great dual phase product that gets rid of the worst waterproof makeup without irritating my eyes. I am currently testing two Nivea eye makeup removers: the Double Effect I will be reviewing today and a lotion which I will discuss in a couple of weeks time.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

The Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover is an oil based two phase product that needs to be shaken well before use. It contains cornflower extract and is specially aimed at taking care of waterproof makeup.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

This doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes nor does it leave that irritating oily film that makes your vision go blurry. Unfortunately, it just isn’t as effective as my favorite. I need to use much more product for a decent result and still find some smudges on my pillow case in the morning.

A decent product, but just not good enough. The story continues… do leave me your recommendations for eye makeup removers in the comments, I am on the hunt for another one.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

De Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover is een reinigingsolie in twee delen die goed geschud moet worden voor gebruik. Het bevat korenbloemextract en is speciaal bedoelt voor waterproof make-up.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

Hmm, strange! Maybe I just have a bad batch, but I couldn’t really get it to work no matter what I tried. xx

I’ve always found Bioderma to be amazing for taking off all makeup. I have the most sensitive eyes ever and that doesn’t irritate them at all xx

I’m still looking for a great eye make up remover. Though I’m not wearing too much on my eyes just eye liner, still it’s a bit hard to find a perfect one to completely remove them. Thanks for sharing this! ☺

I really like Biotherm Biocils Lash Optimizer:

It doesn’t irritate my eyes and removes even the most stubborn waterproof eye makeup! I also like that it doesn’t leave an oily residue on my skin. πŸ™‚

This is incredibly bizarre bog twinnie as I’m also using this one at the moment and even though I don’t wear waterproof eyemake up I still find it struggles a teeny bit on those days where I’ve dressed my eyes up a little more! However…. I was going to recommend the one you said was hard to beat but you’ve already beaten me to trying that lol I swear we’re connected Anne!! πŸ˜€ hehe XXX

Oh yes, this is our blogging bond in full swing again! I am glad you agree, it is just not doing that great a job. The Loreal one is really nice and boots has a decent one as well, but you know me: I love trying new stuff πŸ˜‰ xo

*Cue Twilight Zone music* lol lol Yeah I’ve used it tonight and 45 minutes later I’m still fuzzy eyed, I’m assuming it’s the oil in it. Don’t get me wrong it takes my eye make-up off after a bit of rubbing but I reckon it would be incredibly stubborn with waterproof. Going to grab some of the L’Oreal next πŸ˜‰ Oh, btw can you recommend any good drug store toners? I’ll need one of them too! lol Have already tried Olay & Nivea, I like something with a nice scent…. just thought you may have came across something on your travels πŸ˜€ xX

hihi! It just isn’t cutting it with waterproof, I keep feeling I may rub off my lashes together with the makeup.
You have a Boots right?! I had a great toner from the Botanicals series once, but it was ages ago so I can’t remember the name…think it was reasonably priced though. xxx

lol lol – oh flip sakes, well if you’re in danger of ending up with bald eyelids then I reckon it ain’t doing the job!!!! haha Silly question, but have you tried just holding the cotton pad on your eyes for 10 seconds or so and then wiping just to see if it takes time to break it up? Just a thought!
Yes, we have boots over here πŸ™‚ Ooooh I’m trying their Micellar water at the moment and love it so will have to give the toner a go too!! Thanks for that lovely πŸ™‚ XXX

hihihi! I tried that, though I am not the most patient person, I even did 30 seconds at one point…slightly better results but still. Not my product I guess.
Oh do let me know which one you pick up πŸ™‚

Great post that every beauty lover uses these kinds of beauty product in their day to day beauty routine and I use coconut oil and mild soap side by side for two times to remove off the dirts and finally dab a fine thin layer of coconut oil and massage around my eyes to give a nice cool effect. Hope this might help.

Ah yes, I have considered trying coconut oil for this. Does it work just as nice for waterproof products?

To be honest, with one wash of coconut oil and mild soap is not sufficient and hence, if you repeat it again, it works perfectly fine and by the way, since it is a naturally sourced product, you don’t need worry about irritation kind of stuff and that’s where hides behind the highlighting part.

I don’t think I’ve ever found an eye makeup remover which has really hit the spot. They’re never quite up to scratch. I think I’ve given up now! Xxx

Most eye makeup removers irritate my eyes, even the ones for sensitive eyes, so I just use grapeseed oil to remove my eye makeup. It also has the benefit of conditioning your lashes.

I use 9 to 5 by Lush which takes all of my make up off, including my eye make up! If you need something with a bit more ‘oomph’ their Ultrabland cleanser will remove even the most stubborn make up and it doesn’t irritate your eyes.

I had a bottle of 9 -5 ages ago but for some reason couldn’t get on with it (can’t really remember why)…might have to try that again or go for ultrabland (that has been in my list for a while). Thanks for the reminder πŸ™‚

Hi there πŸ™‚ I completly agree with you. This product is OK but I wouldn’t count on it. It seems to me that it takes a lot of time do remove the makeup and, to be quite honest, I’m not crazy about the feeling it leaves behind.

Don’t know if you’ve try Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, but for me it’s what I use for both my eyes, and my face (plus some gentle creamy cleanser after because I don’t trust makeup removers to deeply cleans my face).
