Monochrome Haul and Scandi Design on a budget

With a slight obsession for knitwear and cardigans, autumn is the ideal time to go shopping (really any excuse will do right?!). My mom and I had a lovely time shopping in the Hague were I picked up some beauty basics, a couple of clothing essentials, and discovered an amazing new budget Danish design store.Want to have a closer look at what I bought?

I love the H&M Pied-de-Poule sweater with a lovely golden zipper on the back: cannot wait to combine this with flared jeans and a red lippy for a great classic look. The three cute little note books come from newly opened Danish Design store Søstrene Grenes, I simply picked them up because they were adorable, only 50 cent and you can never have enough stationary.

Any proper blogger would obviously have shot some great Instagram worthy shots of the store, but I was too busy squealing in delight and throwing things in my basket…sorry. There were some amazing budget home, kitchen, and stationary items, but also larger pieces such as this cute fabric covered stool I picked up for my vanity.

The top find for me were these marble hexagon plates originally meant as coasters which are simply a beauty bloggers dream photo prop. Expect to see these a lot in upcoming shots. I have been loving recent autumn makeup looks with green eyeshadow and finally found the perfect moss green shade in the new H&M Beauty Department: the High Impact Eye Color in Moss it Over. These new Catrice mascaras also looked great and I picked up a real bargain at two for a fiver. Let’s hope they are as good as they look.

My final home items from Sostrene Grenes include a wire basket for the bathroom and some lovely printed napkins. I am currently testing Bye Bye Eye Makeup Remover pads from Hema and absolutely love them (a full review will be up next week), so I couldn’t resist picking up some more of their Eye Makeup Remover products: the 2 phase Remover Lotion and Eye Makeup Remover Oil. Another bargain at €1.50 each.

In all, I picked up quite a few decent items and have found a store which I am sure will turn into quite the addiction. I promise I will take some photos of Sostrene Grenes next time, so you can hopefully understand my raving enthusiasm.

I’ve been seeing LOTS of blogs using those marble coasters in triangle and hexagon shapes, haha. I don’t use props in my photos… just not my aesthetics I guess – I like plain white backgrounds. I might eventually try to incorporate… wait for it… BLACK plain backgrounds. 😛
This Søstrene Grenes store sounds like heaven! Thanks for sharing your finds. 🙂

I guess I waiver a bit between the lovely plain aesthetic and using some props. I love colored backdrops though: I recently bought a navy blue one that is just divine!

So irritating right: you buy something lovely and warm and suddenly the weather decides to go sunny 😉
