Brands seem to be experimenting with new polish finishes: metallic, matte, and now Velvet Satin by Kiko. After my disappointment at Essie’s cashmere matte polishes, how will this one do?
My friend gave me this amazing Titanium Lilac (696) polish from the Velvet Satin range by Kiko (she knows me well). I adore the color: a great faded lilac with blue undertones. The effect creates a lovely satin sheen, which I think is a lot more wearable than a full matte effect.
It even performed a little better than Essie, lasting two to three days before significant chipping. I still find these effect polishes don’t last as long as the normal ones, probably because you cannot wear them with a proper top coat. I don’t really mind, since this is such a lovely and unique color.
Absolutely love it!

Glad to hear this one performed better than the Essie! What a unique colour too. But you’re right, not having a top coat definitely hinders the longevity of the matte polishes.

It is such a lovely color: lilac with some lovely blue/grey undertones π
I think that is the main issue, the lack of a topcoat just makes them chip so much quicker.

Thanks I do love it combined with that sweater π I don’t have a lot of matte shades, maybe I should get a matte topcoat?!

Yes, Matte top coat is the best option as it gives a perfect finish as you desire.

I am using Barry M matte top coat and it works exemplarily well on my nails.

The colour is gorgeous indeed but two to three days it’s still not satisfactory for me my lively Anne… My nail polishes have me used to up to 7-8 days!
Why don’t you try a matifying top coat over one of your trusty nail polishes? Chanel does a good one…
