Liquid Camouflage: Catrice High Coverage Concealer

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer

As someone with an incredible ability to develop dark under eye circles, I adore a good concealer. My current holy grail is the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, but when I noticed a budget dupe by Catrice I just had to try it.

The Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer is priced at a mere €3.60 here (roughly $3.90/ £2.50 according to the current rates, but prices vary depending on your location). The packaging is basic but effective: you can’t really go wrong with a sturdy plastic tube and sponge applicator.

There are some pretty outrageous claims on the packaging: according to Catrice this is waterproof, ultra-longlasting, and even covers tattoos! Where to start? I am not sure I want my concealer to be waterproof, but obviously longlasting is always nice. It does stay put for quite some time, but has a tendency to migrate into the fine lines beneath my eyes. Not the greatest look and an instant way to look years older than you are.

I would describe this as medium and not high coverage. It hides my dark circles quite well (although not as well as Nars), but the tattoo hiding claim is pushing things a bit far. I don’t have any tattoo’s so I couldn’t try that, instead I attempted to hide a dark mole on my hand with this concealer. No luck, so that claim doesn’t hold either.

Besides these issues, there is the obvious budget brand problem of limited color selection. This comes in only two colors: 010 porcelain which will work for fair skins and 020 light beige for light skin tones. I ended up with the latter, which is more my summer skin tone and you can see it swatches below next to Nars Vanilla for a sense of the color. This happens to be my color range, but I can see a large number of girls being unable to use this product even if they wanted too…which I wouldn’t recommend.

I was not impressed at all by this budget concealer. I understand my standards are quite high and the comparison with my HG Nars product is perhaps a bit unfair, but concealer is one of the most important products for achieving a good look. I would recommend splurging on concealer and saving money elsewhere to get a flawless base.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer

It’s super tricky to find a better under eye concealer than Nars right? Only one that’s on par (that i have come across so far) is Mac’s pro longwear. It’s still pricey but less than Nars

I’m not being Uncle Scrooge when it comes to products that give me a flawless look either, be it concealer, setting/finishing powder, or base products… I’s rather spend less on a lipsticks – which I do have in 1346765889 + 1 shades anyway, than to get cheap on my concealer…
My current HG is the Creamy Concealer as well, but I’ll be trying soon the new CT one… And definitely WANT the UD Naked one… Someday! 😅😅😅xx, Annie | Annie’s Beauty

I am just such a base snob: I try and occasionally like budget products, but mainly high end.
I just bought the UD Naked Concealer today!! Cannot wait to try it, but I also need you to update me on the CT one!

Oh! My CT concealer hasn’t left London yet! I wanted to order it inline but my friend offered to get it for me! So I guess it will be here around Christmas when she comes home as well!
Sorry, but you’ll have to wait a bit more for that lovely!

Can’t wait to see your thoughts on the UD one… Maybe I’ll ask my friend to pick that one for me as well! 😊xx

Really?! How much they charge you for a normal order?

Yeees! I can’t wait it to be here though! And the Magic Foundation as well… Fingers crossed they’ll both be as amazing as I heard the would! 😁😁😁

I think it is 15 GBP. Not horrible, but still a little silly since most brands ship for free. Means I tend to save up my wishlist and purchase maybe twice a year in stead of giving in to lipstick cravings 😉

Well it was last time…see why I thought it was crazy: it was half a lipstick!
Maybe they have changed it (that would be better) will be sure to check.

I hate products that claim to be water proof, sometimes even long wear – I feel like they can be so hard to wash off! It is so hard to switch products once you have a holy grail to compare to. I have become a foundation snob ;P

What I hate even more are products with all of these nonsense claims that than fail to live up to it. No-one needs a waterproof concealer, but if you promise me that on the packaging I will expect it 😉
Same here, total foundation snob 😀

Too bad you didn’t find a HG from the drugstore – that would have been great! But I agree with you, finding a good concealer is SO important and I am willing to pay more.
