Red Gloss: Dr PawPaw Tinted Balm

Winter has wreaked its usual havoc on my lips. I have tried my best to protect them with balms, but they have still ended up dry and chapped. Thank heavens spring is around the corner. One of the balms I have been using to sooth my lips has been the Dr PawPaw Tinted Ultimate Red Balm. The basis of this balm is petroleum jelly, so it is very similar to the much loved jars of Vaseline Lip Therapy. I know some of you may prefer not to use mineral oils like petroleum on your skin, but the products do not contain additional parabens, silicones, or fragrance. Dr PawPaw has added papaya and aloe to create an even more soothing balm.

The original balm is clear and can be used for many different purposes, but this red version works best as a lip balm. Dr PawPaw suggests it could be used as a blush as well, but it is way to sticky and dark for that in my opinion.

As a lip balm, this soothes and calms lips. I like the glossy finish and the red shade, although that brings along some issues. The red can be a bit streaky and splotchy, so you need to apply this balm using a mirror to prevent it looking uneven and silly. I would probably prefer the untinted original, just for ease of application.

This is a great lip balm, so I can see why people adore it. This is really very similar to the Vaseline Lip Therapy jars for me, though this tube packaging is much more hygienic.

so good to have a product that takes care of your lips instead of your lipstic and act like a lipstick at the same time!
my favourite at the moment is the new Dior in shade Liliac.
    have an awesome week lovely!

I had the Lucus Pawpaw ointment that an Australian coworker of mine brought back for me. It didn’t work miracles for me but it was a good alternative to Vaseline. I mostly used it for the lips so it makes sense they’d offer a tinted version from another brand.

I have heard a lot about that one, but I don’t think I can get it here. Finding a decent lip balm is always such a struggle.

I bumped across this product last month when I was looking through one of the PR companies where I was reading an article on how fashion show runway models use this product religious on their lips. Great buy and I completely agree with the fact that non-tinted ones tend to work better when it comes to lip balm because just like you, I would also prefer the sheer version of lip balm where you can explicitly show your original lip colour fuss-free.

So true! I love the balm and I think the clear version would also be great for nail beds and other dry places

But I feel the original would be a little more versatile
