Catching Up with Doves & Roses

Catching Up with Doves and Roses

It has been a while since I wrote a little post to highlight what I have been doing recently and which posts on the blog are my absolutely favorites. Time to catch up with Doves & Roses!

Before we have a look at my favorite posts from last month the last few months, lets talk me for a second. Some of you may have noticed I have been a little slow responding to comments on the blog and I haven’t been able to read other posts and interact with as much of my blogging buddies as I would have liked. I am currently in the final stage of writing the dissertation that will allow me to obtain my PhD and as you can imagine things are getting a little crazy now. I love submerging myself in my own blog and reading as many others as I can for bit each day, but please bear with me if I seem a bit absent and slow to respond in the coming weeks (okay fine maybe months).

Let’s get on with the exciting bit! Check out my favorite posts and products from the last months. Just so you know: I am having a major musical crush on James Bay! Tell me I am not the only one?!

The Icon

I absolutely adore this amazing palette by Makeup Revolution. Iconic indeed! The colors are so versatile ranging from basic but beautiful day looks to a proper smokey eye for a night out. The pigmentation and lasting power are impressive and best of all this is very budget friendly. Read all about it here.

The Precious

On the other end of the scale is this high end palette by Hourglass. The Ambient Lighting Palette has been a massive hype among beauty bloggers and after finally trying this I completely understand why. It is expensive and not an impuls buy, but the amazing glowing radiance makes it worth every penny for me. Check out my original review here.

Vanilla Bliss

Winter is notoriously horrible for our skin, but mine was saved by this little jar of vanilla heaven. The Antipodes Vanilla Pod Day Cream gives a great amount of hydration, but sinks in quickly (great for those hectic mornings) and works well underneath make up. And the scent…well this truly smells divine! Read my original rave right here.

Let’s end with two great pieces of news for my Dutch readers. Charlotte Tilbury is opening her long overdue counter in the Bijenkorf in Amsterdam. I cannot wait!I also recently heard that Colab, my favorite dry shampoo that I rave on about endlessly, is actually available in Dutch pharmacy/drugstore chain Kruidvat. Do check their website, they seem to have added a lot of new sales points in numerous countries and might actually be more accessible than you think!

Catching Up with Doves and Roses

Lees mijn originele enthousiaste gebrabbel hier terug.

Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream

Anne great post as always, I love the Hourglass palette. Congratulations on your Ph.D but I can imagine it is a very busy and stressful time. What is your area of study? I am in the process of applying for a Ph.D studentship and I have to write a research proposal so any advice from your experience would be great xxx

      Thanks Em!
It is a little crazy, but amazing at the same time. I am an archaeologist, what is your region of study?
Are you applying in the UK? If you are going for mainland Europe I might be able to help, but the UK system is just a little different. xx Anne

Archaeologist wow that sounds interesting! I’m a social worker so I’m applying for a social work Ph.D in the UK xxx

Thanks. Social work also sounds intriguing (and perhaps a little more socially relevant than archaeology). You can always message me if you need help, but I have little experience with UK grant/uni applications. Good luck! xo Anne

I’m seriously want to try antipodes and I guess I said it before too as I could see so many bloggers singing praise about their products.

oh my word, that Hourglass palette is a thing of dreams. ❤ It's beautiful! I have seen it all over on blogs and YouTube channels but it never fails to take my breath away with its beauty. It's probably a good thing Hourglass products aren't available in South Africa. I would be terribly tempted to splurge. There's nothing quite like a high-end product. 😀 xx

It is equal parts awesome and stressful, but it will be worth it in the end. On the home stretch, just need to finish it now. It is always so nice to chat with you girls about totally different stuff 😀
