I am returning from my little blogging hiatus with a bang: a giveaway to celebrate Doves & Roses turned two this week. I cannot believe it, time has simply flown by and I have had so much fun meeting new people and becoming part of the blogging community. A word of warning: this blogging stuff is rather addictive.
Somehow, I just haven’t been in the mood for summer shades on my nails recently. Honestly: I talked about dark grey last week and I am covering a deep dark blue polish next week 😉
When it comes to brows, I am quite lucky. I have natural deep and full brows and have never over-plucked them, so I was one happy camper when the fashion went my way and everybody started wearing clearly defined brows. Thank you Cara Delevigne! I don’t actually touch my brows on a daily basis, but they do look a little smarter for special occasions if filled in with a pencil and kept in place by some gel. So, I was curious to try something from Benefit’s new brow range: the Goof Proof Brow Pencil.
Welcome to a little relaxing midweek break. I have had a crazy week – you may have noticed I have been a little absent in the comments and on social media – so I can use a little stress relief. I don’t really want to tell you the news just yet as I don’t want to jinx it, but we all know how stressful job interviews are right?!
This insane changeable summer weather of late -no honestly, right now it is pouring with rain and grey, yet two days ago I was wandering around in a dress enjoying the sunshine -has been irritating, but those dreary Sundays are perfect for cleaning and organising. Inspired by Stashy from Stash Matters, I decided it was time to get rid of some stuff I simply don’t use and older products that have passed their use by date (in some cases, I am a little ashamed to admit, by quite some margin). Let’s have a look at what is going into the trash.
As a cleanser fan
atic, I love trying new brands and types of cleansers. I recently received these adorable mini’s of Mario Badescu’s Seaweed Cleansing Soap and Lotion. It was my first time testing anything by this brand, but it has certainly lived up to its reputation.
I have a great budget treat for you today in the shape of the Makeup Revolution blushes. At a mere pound each (about €1.20 / $1.30), these beauties are very affordable. Has my favorite budget brand managed to produce great quality for a limited budget again?
The hype around the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream has been around for a while, so I am joining the party fashionably late. I blame NYX themselves, as it is still pretty hard to get the brand in stores here. Online access is lovely, but sometimes you just need to go crazy at a physical counter.
After finding the perfect color match for my skin in the renewed make-up collection by Dutch pharmacy brand Etos, I had to try another of their base products. Such a great color match is not to be ignored, we all now how tricky finding the right shade of affordable foundation can be. I decided to try their Hydrating BB Cream in ‘my’ shade Vanilla.
It has been a while since I wrote a little post to highlight what I have been doing recently and which posts on the blog are my absolutely favorites. Time to catch up with Doves & Roses!
